What is this Template?

The Privacy Policy template helps create transparency by  disclosing the ways in which a website collects, processes, stores, shares and protects user data, the purposes for doing so and the rights of the users in that regard.

How to use it?

The template provides an outline and content of a basic Privacy Policy. Customize this policy according to your business needs to document how you collect and process customer data and what rights they have in order to make changes or to opt out.  

Value to the organization?

While there isn’t a US Federal law yet, most states within the US require that any organization that has a public website must have a privacy policy. These laws require you to inform users about what data you collect, how it’s used, stored and protected. Additionally, under the new EU GDPR legislation, it’s also necessary that your privacy policy informs users of their rights in regards to their data. The disclosures should be transparent, easily understandable, comprehensive and up-to-date. Failure to meet regulatory requirements can result in hefty fines.
